I’m sitting here in the Prestige Class on Korean Airways flight 9044. It’s a double decker—something that you see more often engineered in bus form than plane—and to get to your seat in this class you take a separate bridgeway thingy up to the top floor. The seat reclines fully flat. When you do that, after years of coach etiquette, you get this weird sensation that you’re leaning right the fuck back into someone’s lap. You aren’t, actually. The person behind you has about 10 feet of leg room for their own recliner. They feed you like 14 times—champange or fresh squeezed juice immediately, then an appetizer, then wine if you want, then tuna tar tar salad, then wine if you want, then whatever you picked off the menu for your main course (bulgogi for me), with wine if you want, then dessert plus a selection of wines. There’s breakfast later.
